This is a spectacular vintage Persian Esefehan that can also be hung as a tapestry.  Superior quality craftsmanship, a high knot count or KPSI (knots per square inch) and extremely fine quality silk and wool make for a stunning rug.  Handmade in the 1960s in silk and wool on a silk base, this rug is in pristine condition and it is sturdy enough to last for generations. The precision and beauty of the medallion and floral details throughout the rug and its borders are breathtaking.  The background is a lush crimson red, a stunning contrast to the floral medallion and details that cascade throughout the rug in a brilliant shade of sapphire blue that seems to burst from the rug's surface, accompanied by white, heather gray, teal, fern green, pomegranate, turquoise, sky blue and countless other colors.  Floral and vine motifs dance around the center medallion and fill the rug with elegant swirling flowers and leaves in these same colors in perfect symmetry.  The white flourishes that swirl and connect all of the pieces really pop, with the silk catching the light.  The midnight blue border is an elegant compliment, itself framed by thin ribbons of white, each layer lovingly adorned with delicate flowers on the vine. This is a piece of artwork that can be used on the floor or hung as a tapestry or draped over a couch or chair. It is a signed piece made by master Persian weavers.
