This is an absolutely spectacular vintage Persian Esefehan that can also be hung as a tapestry. It is a signed piece by a very famous Persian weaver known as David, which makes it a true collector's piece. Superior quality craftsmanship, a high knot count or KPSI (knots per square inch) and extremely fine quality silk and wool make for a museum quality rug.  Handmade in the 1960s in silk and wool on a silk base, this vintage piece is in truly mint condition. It will continue to last generations. The precision and beauty of the medallion and floral details throughout the rug and its borders are breathtaking.  The hard to find open field is a beautiful shade of royal blue, providing a dramatic backdrop for a stunning medallion in cornflower blue and ocean blue with ivory, pomegranate, pale mint green, olive, burgundy, taupe and the palest shade of shell pink.  Floral and vine motifs are hand-knotted surrounding the open field with exquisite floral details in perfect symmetry and in all of the colors of the medallion, adding a beautiful bright Tiffany blue.  The pomegranate border is framed by ribbons of Tiffany blue with charming delicate garlands of white flowers on the vine.
