This is a fine quality handmade mint condition vintage Persian Bidjar runner or narrow area rug. Known as a "gallery size" for its large size and the ratio between its length and width, it can be used as a wide runner in a hallway or entryway or as an area rug for narrow long spaces such as in front of a couch or a bed. Hand-knotted in the 1970s with only vegetable and natural dyes, this rug was made with fine quality wool that has a sheen to it in the light. It was handmade with superior craftsmanship and double-knotted which makes for a thick, dense pile that will withstand high traffic and continue to last for generations. Bidjar rugs are known as "iron rugs" for their sturdy and thick weave. The floral allover design creates a finely detailed pattern in shell pink, pale peach, ivory, champagne, olive green and a brilliant sapphire blue that really pops. The midnight blue border has a stunning large cabbage rose design in the same elegant colors, surrounded by thin sapphire ribbons of small repeating floral and vine motifs. This is a very special and elegant piece. Size: 4'9"x9'
