This is a stunning top quality vintage Persian Bidjar hand-knotted in the 1960's and in mint condition. This traditional floral and medallion Bidjar design is known as Bidjar Halvai, notable for its brilliant colors and incredibly detailed flower designs, along with fine craftsmanship and double knots that make these rugs known as "iron rugs". This rug is made from fine quality wool and the full dense pile can withstand high traffic and will continue to last for generations. The intricate floral and vine design creates a rug that is bursting with the most exquisite spring flowers in full bloom in stunning shades of pink and blue on a rich cherry red background. The delicate central medallion is a spectacular flower in ivory, azure blue, dusty rose, shell pink, midnight blue, taupe and silver. These same accent colors appear throughout the rug, forming delicate sprays and floral bouquets, adding copper, teal, royal blue, sapphire, camel and sea green to the color palette. All colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes. The spectacular border has its own larger floral and vine pattern on midnight blue, with thin ivory and royal blue ribbons of small colorful flowers framing it on either side. Note the corners bursting with flourishes and flowers on midnight blue, ivory and azure in amazing color and detail. Also of note with this rug is the abrash, or natural variation in dyes that occurs uniquely in vintage handmade rugs that use vegetable dyes. See last photo for close up. These variations add intrigue and authenticity to this very special piece. Size: 7'4"x11'3"
