This is a stunning top quality vintage Persian Bidjar, hand-knotted in the 1960's and in mint condition. This traditional floral and medallion design is  known as a Bisjar Halvai, recognized for its brilliant colors and incredibly detailed floral designs, along with fine craftsmanship and double knots that make these rugs known as "iron rugs".  This rug is made from fine quality wool and the full dense pile can withstand high traffic and will continue to last for generations.  The intricate floral and vine design revolves around a beautiful central medallion and small lattice-like motifs in the open field. The flowers and small geometric details are hand-knotted in elegant and soft shades of blues and pinks on a rich watermelon backdrop.  Ivory, sapphire blue, pale peach, azure blue, shell pink, sky blue and red create the elegant central flower, and these are the same colors that create the small details throughout the rug.  The intricacies are dazzling, and all of the colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes.  The rich sapphire border has its own larger floral and vine pattern in the same soft pinks and blues, framed by thin ivory and blue rows with tiny floral and vine motifs.  Note the exquisite sapphire blue corners bursting with color and detail.  This is a very special piece in a versatile size.
