This is an extremely fine quality and mint condition vintage handmade Persian Bidjar with a classic geometric medallion design.  This intricate pattern hand-knotted throughout the rug is known as a "fish design", with delicate details in a glorious array of colors within concentric layers leading to a central geometric medallion. This rug has a very high knot count or KPSI (knots per square inch) and was hand-knotted using fine quality wool and exquisite craftsmanship.  The rug is so thick and dense it is known as an "iron rug" that can withstand high traffic and will last generations.  Deep midnight blue, warm strawberry red and creamy ivory serve as the backgrounds and border for exquisite and delicate motifs in a stunning array of bright and beautiful colors that become more apparent as you get closer to the rug, all made from only vegetable and other natural dyes:  lemonade pink, rose, burnt orange, hunter green, turquoise, burgundy, olive green, fern green, ivory, pale sky blue. mocha and countless others.  The midnight blue border is a particularly special feature of the rug, with an elegant larger floral and vine motif in all of the rug's rich colors.  Size: 8'2"x11'2"
