This is a vintage and fine quality handmade Persian Baluch runner.  This rug was hand-knotted by expert Baluchi tribal weavers with a beautiful and unique allover design of large colorful flowers that resemble iris with their striking purple blooms.  A row of these flowers runs down the center of the runner, hand- knotted in midnight blue, hunter green, ivory and lavender on a rich red backdrop for rather dramatic effect.  All colors are made from only natural, vegetable dyes.  The border is a complementary and equally intricate design with a series of intriguing motifs in the same colors, bordered by rows of polka dots,  adding orange and sky blue to the palette.  The final border of the rug is an intricate tribal pattern in midnight blue on red with pops of lavender.  Handmade with 100% lambswool, this rug has a soft full pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. The rug has some color running, apparent in the ivory areas where the red bleeds in.  The runner is completely intact and otherwise in perfect condition (which is why it is such a great price)!
