This is a beautiful fine quality handmade vintage Persian Baluch tribal runner that can also be used as a tapestry or wall hanging, or draped over a couch or chair.  Made of fine quality soft lambs wool, this rug has a full pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations.  The geometric and tribal allover design is finely knotted in exquisite detail in a pattern that is known as 'elephant foot'. It is a common pattern for tribal rugs from this region, hand-knotted by Baluchi weavers using only vegetable and other natural dyes.  This rug is particularly special because of its finely knotted details and beautiful colors that become more apparent the closer you get to the rug. The allover elephant foot design is knotted by hand with midnight blue, orange, purple, charcoal, sage green and ivory accents to complement the alternating smaller orange, charcoal and ivory motifs. All of this rests on a warm strawberry red backdrop that transitions into violet red and gets lighter as the runner progresses. This variation in natural dyes is known as abrash and very common on handmade vintage rugs. It creates a striking, one-of-a-kind effect, similar to a subtle ombre pattern. The rug is framed by a three-layer border of fine details in all the colors of the runner.
