This handmade Persian Bakhtiari area rug has a beautiful and unique allover design. Its large and wide size could also be used as a "gallery size" runner.  The three geometric floral medallions are hand-knotted down the center of the rug with stunning details in lush colors made from only vegetable and other natural dyes.  Deep cranberry red is the backdrop for intricate floral and vine designs in tribal style, both within the large flowers and surrounding them. The medallions are ivory and they really pop against the deep red background. Their large flowers are made up of many smaller flowers and petals in sapphire, midnight blue, red, indigo blue and azure blue.  Each flower medallion is ringed with blue, and the red backdrop is full of charming tiny flowers on the vine in these same colors.  This rug has the unique element of color changes from one end to the other.  The medallion and its corners on one side of the rug are a bright azure blue.  The border is a complementary thick indigo blue frame for the rug, with its own design of geometric flowers on the vine.  This rug has some minor areas of light distress, where the pile is low - see last photo for close-up.  These imperfections add to its truly one of a kind handmade nature. The rug was handmade in the 1950s by expert tribal weavers. It has a thin but sturdy pile that can withstand high traffic and will continue to last for generations.  Size: 5'1"x10'
