This handmade vintage Persian Bakhtiari in a Four Seasons design is a beautiful tribal and floral piece, hand-knotted in the 1980s and in mint condition. The flower and tree garden motifs are based on Persian rug designs that date back centuries. It is said that Iran was very proud of its four seasons as compared to most Middle Eastern countries, and so this design was a national symbol of pride. This is a high quality tribal rug made with excellent craftsmanship with a full pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. The Four Seasons design is characterized by a checkerboard of squares or diamonds in which each section represents one of the four seasons. In this rug, the changing colors, backgrounds and intricate trees and flowers beautifully illustrate the seasons. The rich and rustic colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes, a soothing and rather elegant color palette of royal blue, coral, salmon, ivory, champagne, peach, shell pink, silver, gold, orange, burgundy and countless others. The rug has a charming frame of colorful ribbons of small flowers on the vine, waves and other tribal motifs in the same beautiful shades. Size: 4'4"x7'
