This handmade vintage Persian Four Seasons design Bakhtiari with floral, tree and bird motifs has a rich rustic color palette and charming details. This sturdy fine quality oriental rug has a full pile that can withstand high traffic and will continue to last for generations.  The Four Seasons design is a checkerboard pattern in which each square represents one of the four seasons (interestingly, the Persians are said to have invented this design out of pride for their 4 seasons, unlike other countries in the region).  In this rug, the squares resemble windows to the garden, with views of the changing seasons through the trees and flowers.  The vibrant colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes.  The squares' background colors alternate between ivory, crimson, midnight blue and plum. They are adorned with flowers, trees, exotic birds and other geometric motifs in these same colors, along with heather and charcoal gray, carnation pink, boysenberry, lavender, copper and other delightful shades that harmonize beautifully in this pictorial rug.  The details continue even between the squares, with silver and gray rows of small squares in white and shades of purple.  All of this is lightened and brightened by the ivory border with its own design of large geometric flowers on the vine in all of the same dazzling colors, framed by rows of midnight blue with small tribal flowers and other geometric motifs.  You can get lost in the details.
