This is a fine quality vintage Persian Afshar runner in a tribal & geometric allover paisley design.  The rug is made with soft, fine quality wool that is great for high traffic areas and will continue to last generations. The lush strawberry red background is filled with botehs, the ancient tribal precursor to contemporary paisleys. Ashfar nomadic tribes are in fact thought to be the first to use the boteh design many centuries ago.  These botehs are ivory and plum with midnight blue edges.  The border is a special feature of this runner with its ivory row full of small flowers in the most beautiful and unexpected array of colors - camel, olive green, powder blue, peach, royal blue, walnut, plum and countless others. These charming flowers are framed by colorful rows of diagonal stripes in these same gorgeous colors, adding coral and shell pink to the palette.
