This is one of the most unique and striking rugs in our collection. It is a rare, fine quality vintage handmade tribal Afshar in mint condition, hand-knotted with the most brilliant colors in a classic medallion design.  The rug is extremely bright and colorful, full of charming tribal details in rich, saturated colors.  It is made with top quality wool for a soft and sturdy pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. Hand-knotted by expert tribal village weavers in the 1980s, this rug is in mint condition and made with superior craftsmanship, as evidenced in the high knot count or KPSI (knots per square inch) and precision of the details.  The dyes are all made from vegetables or other natural sources.  A rich indigo blue background is a stunning canvas for the prominent central medallion and intricate tribal motifs that fill the lush blue carpet with finely knotted details in royal blue, striking colors.  The medallion has at least ten concentric layers, starting from a marigold center, to bright white, plum and emerald green, then bright royal blue with red adornments on a creamy ivory backdrop with tiny tribal flowers and other otifs in emerald green and plum. Pops of aquamarine and bubble gum pink  dot the designs, which lead to a pink and indigo layer, then cranberry, then indigo, bright candy apple red and the final pistachio edge. Tiny geometric motifs decorate each layer. And then there is the blue open field, resplendent with tribal flowers, plants and other motifs in all of colors of the medallion. The corners are particularly special, each with a matching bouquet of phenomenal tribal flowers.  The border has its own charming complementary designs, a series of thin colorful rows of small flowers on the vine against red, white, royal blue and plum stripes.
