Yellow Flowers

This is one of the most unique and striking rugs in our collection. It is a rare, fine quality vintage handmade tribal Persian Afshar in mint condition, hand-knotted with the most brilliant colors in an allover design.  The rug is extremely bright and colorful, full of charming tribal details in rich, saturated colors.  It is made with top quality wool and a notably thick, dense, soft and sturdy pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. Hand-knotted by expert tribal village weavers in the 1980s, this rug is in mint condition and made with superior craftsmanship, as evidenced in the precision of the details.  The wool is fine quality, and the dyes are all made from vegetables or other natural sources.  The repeating diamond geometric medallions are known as 'guls' and often represent natural elements such as lakes or mountains.  These guls bare resemblance to a symbol known as the 'wheel of life', with latch hooks encircling a wheel. These symbols appear throughout history in numerous traditions and represent the cyclical nature of life. Here, they fill the runner in the most fantastic array of colors: turquoise, orange, crimson, sapphire, bright pink, steel blue, taupe, sea green, carnation pink, aquamarine, lime green, sky blue, camel, fruit punch, copper, silver, sand, white and countless others. They rest on a midnight blue and black background, which creates a dramatic effect.   White is used throughout as a dramatic accent color, lightening and brightening the rug, and becoming a frame as the border.  Brightly colored repeating geometric motifs that resemble flowers on the vine create a garland around the rug, with a final edge of cranberry with alternating green and red tribal motifs. This is truly a phenomenal piece that you have to touch and see to truly appreciate.  Size: 5'4"x10'
