This is a brand new fine quality area rug handmade in Afghanistan.  The allover floral design is known as transitional -  inspired by antique oriental rug patterns and made with a contemporary flair. The background is an elegant and rich shade of muted rust/burgundy (NOTE: the rug looks very red in the photos. This is a trick of the light. It is a more muted shade or rust or pale burgundy). The flowers are hand-knotted with fine accents in a stunning array of colors, with interconnected leaves, vines, and flowers in a symmetrical pattern that fills the rug with color and spacious pattern.  Only natural dyes are used to create these shades of gold, ivory, camel, hunter green, olive green, mustard, silver, sage green, copper, mauve and more.  The ivory border lightens and brightens the rug with a complementary floral and vine design in the same striking colors.
