This is a vintage fine quality Sarough rug handmade in India by master weavers. The allover floral design is inspired by classic antique Persian Sarough patterns. The background is an elegant and rich shade of deep cherry red, hand-knotted with delicate floral sprays and bouquets in abundance, filling the open field in a stunning array of soft and subtle colors: dusty rose, white, silver, mauve, camel, sage green, camel, midnight blue, steel blue, shell pink, lavender and countless others, all made from only vegetable and other natural dyes. The border is a silvery shade of white, which lightens and brightens the rug, with a complementary floral and vine design in the same elegant colors, framed by thin rows of khaki and moss green with their own charming tiny flowers on the vine. The final edge iss the cherry red for a dramatic finish. This rug has an extremely dense, heavy, full and soft pile that you can truly sink your feet into. It can withstand high traffic and will last generations. The rug has several areas of distress, which is what makes it a great bargain. The border and several small areas in the rug have patches where the pile is low (see last photos), and there are a few areas of discoloration. We are happy to show you close-ups of all of the distressed areas, just ask! Size: 9'4"x13'9"
