This vintage handmade fine quality Russian Turkeman accent rug was hand-knotted by expert tribal weavers with superior craftsmanship.  This rug has a thin, soft pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. The fine quality wool has a sheen to it in the light and the high knot count or KPSI (knots per square inch) creates precise and intricate details throughout. This allover geometric design is known as 'elephant foot', a hallmark of Turkeman rugs.  Hand-knotted on a wine-colored background, the elephant foot repeating motifs and other charming geometric star, flower and S-curve patterns harmonize beautifully in bocean blue, plum, strawberry red, copper, ivory, chocolate and peach.   All colors are made from only natural dyes.  There are two perfectly symmetrical rows of elephant feet interspersed with other tribal motifs that run down the center of the rug.  The backdrop color undulates subtlely with natural variation in color from wine to cherry red and strawberry red in what is known as abrash, a hallmark of vintage handmade rugs using natural dyes.  The blue and white details become more apparent as you approach the rug.
