This handmade fine quality vintage Persian Sarough Mir runner has an allover repeating intricate paisley (known as boteh, an ancient tribal precursor to the paisley) design.  Each individual paisley, or boteh, is made up of tiny knots of white, charcoal, pink, sea blue, midnight blue and mocha, details that become more apparent as you get closer to the rug, much like a pointillist painting. The pink background of the runner has natural variations in the color, known as abrash. This is common in handmade vintage rugs with natural dyes, and it is a beautiful and authentic element of the rug that truly makes it one-of-a-kind.  The pink slowly shifts from watermelon to rose throughout the pile. The border is particularly striking and intriguing - an ivory frame of intricate pink, red, blue and charcoal geometric details that almost resemble hieroglyphics. This is surrounded by thin rows of sapphire with repeating tiny white polka dots followed by thicker rows of pale khaki green with repeating blue and white diamond motifs.  This runner has some minor imperfections but is perfectly intact and great quality.  One end of the runner has a slight curve and there is one spot in the pile that is slightly imperfect (see photos for close-ups). These slight irregularities add to the rug's charm, and also make it a great price!  Size:  3'4"x8'2"
