This is a stunning vintage handmade traditional Persian Sarough. Hand-knotted in the 1950s, this rug has a few minor areas of distress which makes it a great deal for such a large fine quality rug. Hand-knotted with fine quality wool and masterful craftsmanship, the rug has exquisite details throughout, in both the medallion, the open field, the corners and border. It has a sturdy dense weave that can withstand high traffic and will last for generations. The rich, luxurious cherry red open field is an elegant backdrop for the most exquisite floral sprays & bouquets, leaves and flourishes in gold, midnight blue, ballet slipper and rose pink, pale peach, olive green, champagne and countless other elegant colors, all made from only natural dyes. The colors have the muted elegance unique to antique rugs. The floral medallion has a necklace of cabbage roses surrounded by delicate flowers that lead to the red open field. Perfectly symmetrical sprays and bouquets fill the open field and lead to the exquisite and elaborate border of abundant flowers in layers of pattern and color. The rug has distress in the open field of the rug, where the pile is uneven and creates a variation in shades of red, visible in the photos. In addition, the fringe, which is perfectly intact, is uneven and distressed. These distressed areas give the rug the unique one of a kind charm of a beautiful antique. Size: 8'10"x12'
