This charming handmade vintage Persian Hamedan runner from the 1980s is in mint condition. The allover repeating intricate paisley (known as boteh, an ancient tribal precursor to the paisley) design is based on the Persian Sarough Mir pattern, made up of tiny knots of steel blue, silver, pale peach, white, khaki green, black and charcoal, details that become apparent as you get closer to the rug, much like a pointillist painting. The pink background is a beautiful mix of dusty rose, salmon, shell pink and watermelon pink due to the natural variation in dyes that often occurs in handmade vintage rugs that use vegetable dyes. The shifting colors create a unique and special ombre-like effect. The border is particularly striking and intriguing - an ivory frame of intricate colorful geometric details that almost resemble hieroglyphics. They are knotted by hand in the same colors as the runner and framed by thin steel blue ribbons with white tiny polka dots leading to thicker khaki green rows of repeating small blue and white diamonds. All colors are made from only vegetable and other natural dyes. This runner has unique colors that are hard to find and an allover design that makes it a very versatile piece. Size: 3'5"x8'4"
