This is a beautiful and fine quality vintage Afghan prayer rug/accent rug that was hand-knotted by expert Baluchi tribal weavers. The colors are made from natural dyes. This rug was designed as a prayer rug with its mosque-like outline defining the rug's central design, but it can also be used as an accent rug or a tapestry/wall-hanging. The intricate geometric and tribal motifs that adorn the rug add beautiful and highly decorative details . The midnight blue backdrop is a canvas for the main pattern of the rug, a repeating orange and burgundy arrow motif in alternating directions, defined by light red squares. The primary architectural structure that represents the mosque is defined in delicate ivory lines with decorative motifs in these same rustic colors of orange, copper, red and chocolate. Multiple turrets in ivory are also adorned in colorful motifs, above and beneath the mosque. The border is the perfect complement, with repeating rows of geometric motif in the rug's rich colors. This rug is made of fine wool which gives it a soft pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. Size: 3'1"x4'2"
