It is hand-knotted of silk and fine wool with a high knot count (KPSI, knots per square inch) and superb craftsmanship, which makes for precise, crisp details. The rug has an exquisitely detailed perfectly symmetrical floral and vine medallion pattern of sprays and bouquets, petals, leaves and vines revolving around a beautiful central medallion.  The silk accents glisten in the light.  The rug is a spectacular shade of sapphire blue (close to Egyptian blue) that is perfectly complimented by the white, silver and soft gray of the medallion and surrounding designs.  Additional accent colors include midnight blue, tawny, grass green, taupe, plum and countless other elegant neutral shades, all  made from only natural dyes. The border is the perfect complement, an elegant soft gray with a larger floral and vine pattern in the same accent colors, with a final thin sapphire blue edge.
