This brand new contemporary Kazakh tribal runner was hand-knotted in Pakistan by expert weavers.  The rug is woven in a transitional design -- taking the inspiration from traditional oriental rug designs and updating them with modern colors.  This is a very fine quality rug with high caliber wool, a high knot count (KPSI, knots per square inch) for precise, crisp details, and superior craftsmanship.  The colors are made from only natural dyes.  A soft azure blue is the rug's canvas for an intricate design of geometric medallions known as "guls", which often represent natural elements such as lakes or mountains.  Here, seven footed medallions run down the center of the rug in alternating snowflake-like shapes and colors.  All of the medallions share the colors of silver, heather gray, white, taupe and ivory. They alternate between additional shades of red, khaki and pale peach or denim blue, pale gold and dark gray. Every medallion has ornate designs and they are surrounded by smaller guls and other geometric motifs that fill the blue open field with delicate patterns in perfect symmetry.  The border is a particularly decorative complementary element of the rug, an ivory frame of geometric flowers on the vine in every color of the rug, framed by thinner lavender and pale gold rows of smaller repeating charming tribal motifs.  This rug has a sturdy, thin pile that is perfect for high traffic areas and will last generations.
