This vintage handmade Chinese rug is a fine quality Tabriz design, with a high knot count for precise details and elegant subtle colors made from only natural dyes. It is known as a transitional style, informed by traditional Persian Tabriz designs and updated for a modern sensibility. It is hand-knotted of fine, soft wool that creates a full, sturdy pile that can withstand high traffic and will last generations. The rug has an elegantly detailed perfectly symmetrical allover floral and vine pattern in a very unique and truly stunning color palette. The pale mauve backdrop allows the colors to sing: ballet slipper pink, dusty rose, pale mint green, sky blue, lilac, heather gray, taupe, silver, plum, charcoal, ivory and countless other elegant and neutral shades. The floral sprays and bouquets are so precise, they appear to be drawn by hand. The border is the perfect complement, a rather elusive shade of soft gray-green with a garland of flowers on the vine in the same wonderful colors of the rug. There are a few areas of minor distress in the rug's open field, where the color background color is faded to white -- see last photos for close up. It is barely noticeable and makes for a bargain price! Size: 4'x6'7"
