This brand new handmade Oushak rug was hand-knotted in Afghanistan by expert weavers with a very high knot count (KPSI, or knots per square inch) for precise details. The rug has a soft, sturdy pile that is great for high traffic areas and will last for generations. The allover modern, abstract design is a hallmark of contemporary Oushak rugs, derived from antique Turkish Oushak designs that date back to the Ottoman Empire. The muted shades of this rug are hand-knotted against a pale silver backdrop. Upon closer examination, the silver is a variegated backdrop of silver, white, light and dark gray. The neutral shades undulate throughout the background for a beautiful effect. Intricate details are hand-knotted in muted shades of sky blue, camel, bone, gray, and cranberry, all made from only natural dyes. The designs form a perfectly symmetrical, elegant floral pattern throughout, as though the designs are painted in watercolors. The border is framed by thin rows of bone and silver, providing a complementary frame with a garland of flowers on the vine in all of the rug's colors. Size: 12'x14'10"
