This is a colorful top quality handmade vintage tribal Kazakh accent rug.  Hand-knotted by expert Afghan weavers, this rug is made from soft wool with a sturdy tribal weave that will continue to last generations and can withstand high traffic.  The geometric, nomadic design has a bold central star-like medallion in copper and ivory with denim blue adornments and a midnight blue frame. The pomegranate red open field contains two hooked motifs that likely represent animal or other natural elements. One is ivory with small blue accents and a royal blue frame.  The other has a golden undertone, with small blue accents and a midnight blue border. Sky blue and denim blue diamond-like shapes surround the medallion with red and white cross motifs within.  All colors are made from only natural dyes, and the slight variations within the rug are known as abrash, a characteristic of vintage handmade rugs that use natural dyes. It adds to the rug's authentic tribal appeal. The open field is a dramatic and elegant part of this rug's design, as is the complementary border with its alternating small medallion repeats against an ivory backdrop.
