This is a stunning and rare piece -- an antique handmade Kurdish Bidjar rug/gallery size runner from the 1920s in  mint condition.  The rug is hand-knotted with exquisite colors made from only vegetable dyes.  It is a testament to the quality of the craftsmanship, wool and dyes that the rug is in such great condition today.  The rug's strikingly intricate allover tribal repeating motifs include flower, fish and star designs woven along a lattice-like pattern.  This geometric design is a classic Persian rug pattern.  Sapphire, rose, ballet slipper pink, lemonade pink, taupe, mint green, ivory, midnight blue, silver, cornflower blue, mocha, plum and countless other colors are soft and muted with age, giving the rug the wonderful patina that only comes from antique natural dyes.  The rug's abundant pattern rests against a midnight blue backdrop. leading the eye to the ivory corners that lighten and brighten the rug, picking up on all of the shimmering ivory accents throughout.   The ivory corners have colorful tribal flowers on the vine bordered with a rose and teal frame which leads to a concentric series of frames with their own intricate and elegant tribal garlands of flowers on the vine in all of the rug's colors.  The rug's border is a particularly decorative and stunning feature of the rug with its beautiful large colorful garland of flowers . This rug has a very thin pile throughout, consistent with a rug of its age.  It has no holes or patches of tears and it is still sturdy enough to withstand traffic.  It will continue to last for generations to come!  Size: 5'7"x12'10"
