This Afghan prayer rug or accent rug was hand-knotted in Northwest Afghanistan by Baluch weavers. Its called a Royal Baluch because it was designed as a prayer rug, its tribal and geometric design a hallmark of Afghan rugs from this region. This rug is unique for its briliant jewel tones and its pastoral scene of a forest and structures and a mosque. The cherry red background is host to intricate images, patterns and colors. Sapphire blue, hunter and kelly green, ecru, chestnut and burgundy create the landscape with a floral geometric border. All of the colors are made with only natural and vegetable dyes. This rug is made of 100% camel hair, which gives it a full pile that can withstand high traffic areas.
