This is an extraordinary rug and an extremely rare collector's piece -- a handmade antique Persian Sarough Farahan from the 1850's in excellent condition with an intricate and exquisite floral design. The colors have that unique patina and abrash (natural variation) that only comes with antique handmade rugs made from vegetable dyes. The muted shades of blue, pink, green and coral in this rug are the stuff that dreams are made from: peach coral and rose coral, sapphire and indigo, spearmint and grass green, shell pink, pale peach, soft sage green, ivory, bone, midnight blue and countless other colors are hand-knotted in intricate floral and motifs that create the spectacular central flower medallion and surrounding designs for this masterpiece. The colors are faded and yet deeply rich, made from only vegetable dyes that continue to last for centuries. The border is the perfect compliment, an elegant garland of flowers on the vine in all of the rugs unique colors, framed by thin rows of tiny botehs, antique tribal paisley designs. You have to see this rug in person to truly appreciate its splendor.  The very thin, even low pile is typical for rugs of this age and from this region, with no holes or patches or tears.  Despite its age, the rug is sturdy due to its fine quality and can handle foot traffic. It will continue to last for generations, even centuries.  It would also make for a stunning wall hanging or tapestry. Size: 4'x6'5"
